PESHAWAR: A doctor at Lady Reading Hospital has accused Adviser to Chief Minister Ajmal Khan Wazir of misbehaving with him and interrupting medical services.

The aggrieved doctor has requested management of the hospital to initiate inquiry and lodge FIR against the adviser to chief minister.

Dr Abdullah Daud, medical officer, sent complaint to the director of emergency department of LRH on Monday that Ajmal Wazir came to room number 10 at around 4:30am on Monday after being referred there with high blood pressure.

He said that the adviser was provided treatment as per protocol, but he suddenly started misbehaving, abusing and threatening him.

According to the doctor, Mr Wazir complained that he was not given protocol. “The emergency room was turned into a battleground and interrupted emergency service to other patients,” said Dr Daud in his complaint. He asked the director to see the whole episode recorded in CCTV cameras of the hospital.

Young Doctors Association has also condemned the adviser to chief minister and termed his act against the human values.

“Hospital is not a place where people get protocol but it is for the patients, who require treatment regardless of their political or economic status,” said a press release issued by the association.

It asked the hospital’s authorities to take action by lodging FIR against Mr Wazir so that medics could stay safe in future.

Ajmal Khan Wazir, when contacted, denied the allegations levelled against him by the complainant.

“I went to the hospital early morning on Monday with high blood pressure and toothache and didn’t find the doctors after waiting for 15 minutes there. Then, some paramedics gave me treatment,” he told Dawn.

He said that he could have called the hospital’s authorities prior to his arrival if he wanted protocol but he went to the hospital and got an OPD slip in emergency.

“I searched for the doctor-on-duty here and there for 15 minutes but couldn’t find him. The lower staff administered me intravenous fluids and painkillers and I left the hospital after relief from pain,” he said.

A contradiction in doctor’s complaint was also pointed out by the adviser. According to the doctor, Ajmal Wazir had 230/130 BP when he came to the hospital while in OPD chit his blood pressure was recorded as 190/130.
