PESHAWAR: As the business community is set to observe shutter down strike on Saturday (tomorrow) against the imposition of new taxes, the opposition parties also announced to extend support to the traders.

Different unions of traders across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, have endorsed the strike call given by Markazi Tanzeem-i-Tajiran Pakistan to build pressure for acceptance of their demands.

According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, a joint meeting of opposition parties was held at Bacha Khan Markaz which announced support to the traders strike.

Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Wali Khan, JUI-F provincial chief Senator Maulana Ataur Rehman, Asif Iqbal Daudzai, PPP provincial president Humayun Khan, PML-N provincial secretary information Ikhtiar Wali Khan, QWP provincial spokesman Tariq Ahmed Khan and other activists participated in the meeting.
