TIMERGARA: The Pakistan Peoples Party, Lower Dir chapter on Saturday protested against the arrest of party leaders, inflation and what it called the anti-people budget 2019-20.

Hundreds of workers carrying party flags gathered at Shaheed Chowk Timergara led by the PPP former lawmakers. The workers marched on the road and staged a rally at Gorgorai Chowk, blocking the Timergara-Chitral Road for some time. They chanted slogans against the government.

The rally was addressed by former lawmakers, including Ahmad Hassan Khan, Najmuddin Khan, Malik Azmat Khan, Mehmood Zeb Khan, Bakht Baidar Khan, Mohammad Zamin, Alam Zeb and others.

Terming the arrest of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur political engineering and victimisation, the speakers said the PPP leaders and workers could not be suppressed by such tactics. They said they were not afraid of jails and cases.

The PPP leaders said Prime Minister Imran Khan had deceived the youngsters through false slogans. They said inflation and unemployment had rattled the countrymen. They asked the youth to make Imran Khan accountable for the unfulfilled pledges.

POLICE LAUNCH WEBSITE: The Lower Dir police have launched their own website to get the public updated on the force’s performance and progress on different cases.

Talking to mediapersons on Saturday, district police officer Arif Shahbaz Wazir said regional police officer Saeed Khan Wazir had directed all DPOs in Malakand division to launch the website to facilitate the public. He said Lower Dir was the first district to have launched the website.

The DPO said it was the age of community-led, technology-based and intelligence-led policing without which police could not succeed in maintaining law and order.

He said the department wished to transform the force into a service-oriented, people-friendly, corruption-free and professional force.

He said the site would enable authorities and readers to get instant information regarding police’s performance.

HAJ TRAINING: The University of Malakand arranged a training session for intending pilgrims on Saturday.

On the occasion, vice chancellor Prof Gul Zaman said performing Haj and umra were special blessings of Allah. He urged intending pilgrims to follow rules and regulations of Saudi Arabia during performance of Haj. He said the pilgrims were the real representatives of Pakistan and they should behave like decent and polite citizens there.
