TANK: An attacker was killed while a former chief of a local peace committee and three other persons were injured when assailants ambushed a car here on Friday.

Tank district police officer Mohammad Arif said that former chief of local peace committee, Gul Islam Bhittani, was going in a car along with his two friends to Tank city when the vehicle came under attack in Shah Zamani area.

As a result, Gul Islam and his friends, Aarzi Khan and Liaquat, were injured.

An attacker was killed in the retaliatory firing by Gul Islam and his friends. The dead attacker was identified as Ihsan Bhittani. Another assailant identified as Qamar Bhittani was injured. The attackers were stated to belong to Awal Khan group of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Taliban.

The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Tank, wherefrom they were referred to a hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed and another injured when their bike collided with a car on Tank-Dera Road. The victim was identified as Nazar Khan Mehsud and the injured as Soorat Khan. The dead and the injured were shifted to a local hospital.

The police registered case and started investigations.
