PARACHINAR: A man was killed, while eight others, a woman among them, were injured when close relatives clashed over a land dispute in Kurram tribal district on Friday.

According to police, the clash occurred in Kanj Alizai locality.

They said the parties to the dispute, stated to be cousins, confronted each other after an exchange of harsh words and then resorted to firing. As a result, a man was killed and eight others were injured. They were shifted to a local hospital, where doctors referred one of the injured to Peshawar in precarious condition. The victim was identified as Irshad Hussain.

The locals said Irshad worked in a foreign country and had returned to home town for getting married in a few days. His family members had gone to the Parachinar city for shopping for his wedding.

The locals said the cousins ran a longstanding dispute, but the local administration failed to take any step to resolve it.
