ISLAMABAD: Around 700 people started observing Aitkaf at Faisal Mosque on Sunday.

Aitkaf is observed in the last 10 days of Ramazan during which worshipers pray in secluded sections.

Dawah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is supervising the activities at Faisal Mosque.

IIUI spokesperson Nasir Farid said this year the IIUI received around 1,000 applications for Aitkaf .

Out of them, around 700 people reached on the given time.

“All applicants were asked to come to the mosque on Sunday with their luggage. They are being given special identity cards and being shown the place set aside for them for Aitkaf ,” Mr Farid told Dawn.

Those who are observing Aitkaf will be served Sehri, Iftari, dinner and other facilities by a contractor for Rs6,500 per head.
