UPPER DIR: District nazim Sahibzada Faseehullah gave away sewing machines to women learning various skills in vocational training centres in Upper Dir.
Speaking at the function the other day, he said up to 1,000 women were given sewing machines across the district through women development fund of the district government. After getting skills the women had been given sewing machines to earn livelihood for their families in a respectable way, he added.
Mr Faseeh said the district government would establish a display centre in Dir where handicraft and other home-made items made by the skilled women would be displayed for selling.
He said they wanted to provide opportunities to women for earning livelihood in a respectable way sitting in their homes. Hundreds of women are getting trainings in vocational centres in Upper Dir organised by CCDP, a non-government organisation, in collaboration with Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.
CCDP district manager Mohammad Khaliq thanked the Dir TMA and the district government for providing vocational centres to them for the women training.
Beneficiary women said they were happy on getting vocational training. They said they would make handicraft in a decent and attractive way and would sell them in the market to get some earning.
MINOR KILLED: A minor boy was killed after falling down from roof of his house in Palam area. The boy, 8, was identified as son of Kifayatullah.
