LAHORE: Three members of a family, including a minor, were allegedly murdered in Naseerabad here on Saturday.

The police said Rubi, 32, and her son Wali Mohammad, 4, were recovered dead from their house in Macca Colony while her mother-in-law Kaniz Bibi, 60, who was found injured there, succumbed to her wounds at a hospital.

According to police, they were attacked by unidentified killer(s) with a knife and that the motive behind the triple murder could not be ascertained so far.

A police official said the neighbours of the family had alerted the police and the Rescue 1122 teams about the incident in the evening.

He said as the police found the minor boy’s throat slit opened while his mother’s body carried several stab wounds.

He said the elderly woman was found seriously injured in a portion of the house.

The crime scene suggested that all the three had offered strong resistance, he said.

The locals told the police investigators that they had seen three men entering and leaving the house.

The police official said they found three empty tea cups in a room which indicated that the suspects were familiar to the family.

The experts of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency collected footprints and other evidences from the crime scene for analysis.

The police official said Rubi’s husband who claimed he was not present at the time of the incident had been taken into custody because of his confusing statement, adding that the bodies had been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.

Further investigation was under way, he added.
