RAWALPINDI:A man died after being struck by lightning in Adiala as downpour lashed the city and its suburbs on Wednesday, police said.

Raja Qamar, 29, father of two was passing through a green field when lightning struck him, killing him on the spot.

Panic and fear gripped the villagers as people were seen running towards their homes in panic.

The body was shifted to his home by the villagers who gathered there in a large number.

Continuing downpour disrupted life in various parts of Rawalpindi as roads were flooded with rain water, causing a halt in the smooth flow of traffic on Jhelum Road, Soan, Marrir Chowk and Bank Road.

On the other hand traffic wardens were seen controlling traffic mess on Murree Road, Adamjee Road and other parts of the garrison city.

Chief Traffic Officer Mohammad bin Ashraf directed the circle in-charges to immediately inform the authorities concerned, if they find chocking drains and rainwater on roads, so that they could be cleared for the smooth flow of traffic.
