Shah said that the credit for the restoration of peace in Karachi goes to police, Rangers and army, and also to the citizens of Karachi who had given a lot of sacrifices and support for the operation.

"I am sure this [marathon] would further encourage people to play their due role for the peace and prosperity in Karachi," he said. The chief minister said he will also compete in the next marathon.

Shah said that the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was held in Karachi last year and such activities had been multiplying.

"This year five PSL matches will be played in the city which shows the confidence of the international communities in Karachi," he said.

While speaking to media, Shah said that the PSL would be a great event adding that he had himself chaired a joint meeting with the PSL organisers, law enforcement agencies and divisional administration.

Shah added that strict security measures had been taken for the PSL matches, which may cause certain problems for the citizens of Karachi, but he would try to minimise the inconvenience to people.
