ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police has set up special squads to take action against amateur drivers and bike riders not using helmets.

The squads have been constituted on the directions of SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed. The SSP also appealed to parents to refrain from handing over vehicles or bikes to underage children.

He directed the zonal DSPs to take strict action against amateur drivers and ensure steps for a safe road environment in the city.

He said ITP teams would visit educational institutions to create awareness as many students had joined the ITP as volunteers.

The SSP said the purpose of initiating action against amateur drivers without helmets was to ensure their safety.
