KARACHI: A shopkeeper was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in Korangi’s Zaman Town area early on Thursday morning, according to police.

Fida Hussain, 55, was sitting at his medical store located in Sector 48-D of Korangi-2 when armed pillion riders attacked him and fled. He sustained a single bullet wound on his shoulder and was transported to the JPMC, where he died during treatment.

The victim belonging to the Shia community, originally hailing from Gilgit.

Zaman Town SHO Anzar Alam ruled out the possibility of a robbery attempt behind the incident. “The murder might be motivated by sectarian considerations or personal enmity,” said the officer.

A Majils-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen spokesperson said that it was a sectarian killing. He added that the victim’s son is an office-bearer of the Imamia Students Organisation in Korangi.

The medical store was located inside Al-Shifa Clinic and the armed pillion riders only targeted him.

Milk seller shot dead

A young milk seller was shot dead by suspected robbers off the Superhighway on Thursday morning, according to police.

SHO of the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area Salim Rind told Dawn that Akbar Ali, 26, opened his milk shop at Ahsanabad around 4am.

At 7.15am, two armed pillion riders stormed in and tried to snatch cash and other valuables from him. As he resisted, the robbers opened fire and fled without any loot.

He sustained a single bullet wound in the chest and was transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
