SWABI: A girl, who married without consent of her parents, was shot dead along with her spouse by her father and brother in Gadoon region here on Wednesday.

According to police, the incident occurred in Pabini village in the jurisdiction of Swabi police station.

Sources in the two families said soon after their marriage, the couple had fled to Karachi and stayed there for a few months, but returned home about a month ago.

Soon after the marriage, the girl’s father who was an overseas employee dashed home and started search for the daughter and her husband.

Registering an FIR with police, father of the boy, said his son had married with the girl a year ago, but the girl’s father and his sons were not happy with the wedding.

The complainant said his brother had arranged a party for the couple and when they were returning home from the party, the girl’s father and his son opened fire on them, killing both on the spot.

Police officials said none of the alleged killers had so far been arrested.

Also, three more people were killed in separate incidents.

Unknown robbers shot dead a man when he put up resistance during a robbery attempt in Parmuli area.

In Kalabat village, 14-year-old Shahyan Khan committed suicide by consuming poisonous tablets.

In Naranji, a man named Alam Sher, who was seriously injured two days ago, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in Peshawar on Wednesday. He was shot and injured over an old enmity.
