BANNU: Unknown assailants shot dead a hockey player and the district general secretary of the Insaf Students Federation, in separate incidents here on Friday.

Unknown assailants opened fire on ISF district general secretary Pir Gohar Ali Shah near the government high school No-1, killing him on the spot. Soon after the incident a large number of activists of ISF gathered at the district headquarters hospital, Bannu, and staged a demonstration.

The second incident took place in the limits of Saddar police station where hockey player, Ziaur Rehman, was shot dead by unknown attackers near the Bannu Sports Complex. The deceased was in-charge of Qazi Mohib Hockey Club Bannu.

Meanwhile, bullet-riddled body of an unknown woman was spotted at Ghora Bakkakhel. The police shifted the body to hospital. It was later buried at Trang graveyard by the municipal committee workers.
