PESHAWAR: The water and sanitation services companies have established the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Water and Sanitation Companies Network (KPWSCN) to further improve their working across the province.

Chief Executive Officer, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), Engr Khanzeb Khan has been elected as chairman of the network, according to a statement issued here on Monday.

Chief executive officers of WSSCs cast their votes through secret ballot. Khanzeb secured seven votes followed by CEO WSSC Mardan Nasir Ghafoor who secured two votes.

The network is comprised of seven water and sanitation companies working in the urban pockets of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including, Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Kohat, DI Khan, Swat and Bannu.

“The overarching objective of KPWSCN is to strengthen WSSCs, to transform them into robust, professional, efficient and responsive utilities,” said the newly-elected chairman Engr Khanzeb.

The network will provide a platform for discussion, sharing ideas, learning and raising common voices on a wide-range of issues related to water and sanitation, he added.

The network will formulate its own by-laws, governance structure, operational, financial and administrative strategy to run it on sustained and efficient basis,” said Mr Khanzeb.
