RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police have released an alternate traffic plan for Muharram 10.

A team of 847 traffic police personnel will be deployed across the city including 671 traffic wardens, 163 traffic assistants, six inspectors and seven deputy superintendents of police.

A spokesperson of the traffic police said Iqbal Road will remain closed from Committee Chowk and that DAV College Road will also be closed. The mourning procession will reach the Naya Mohallah Chowk and traffic will not be allowed to proceed to Fawara Chowk from DAV College Road. Traffic will instead be directed towards Gowalmandi and Bhoosa Mandi.

Traffic will be diverted from Mashriq Hotel City Saddar Road, passenger vehicles will be diverted back towards Saddar and other cars will be allowed to proceed towards Mohanpura from where they will be allowed to move towards Pirwadhai via Novelty Cinema.

However, traffic will not be allowed to proceed to Kashmir Bazaar. A diversion will be put in front of the City police station as traffic coming from Novelty Cinema will be diverted to Ganjmandi.

Another diversion will be placed at Shah Allah Ditta Road and all types of traffic will be diverted towards Dhoke Dalal, Asghar Mall Road, T.B Hospital and Asghar Mall Chowk.

Cars coming from Banni Chowk and link roads will be diverted back from Roshan Bakery and cars will be diverted towards Saidpur Road and Circular Road to reach Murree Road and Liaquat Bagh.

Another diversion will be placed on Hamilton Road and traffic will not be allowed towards Bansa Wala Chowk and Dingi Koi. A diversion will be placed at Bansa Wala Chowk and no cars will be allowed towards Jamia Masjid Road as traffic will be directed towards Pirwadhai Road.

Traffic will not be allowed towards Imambargah Kadeemi and Imambargah Baltistani as it will be diverted from Pir Choha Chowk towards Pirwadhai and Asghar Mall Road.
