ISLAMABAD: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband with help of his family in the Mera Aku Village because she could not have children.

Bibi Fatima’s husband had wanted to take a second wife for some time and divorce her as she had not had children in the few years they were married.

The police said the couple often fought over them being issueless.

The police said the preliminary investigation suggests the couple had fought again and that Bibi Fatima’s husband overpowered her with the help of his brother and strangled her to death.

The suspect then fled and went into hiding, the police said.

Separately, a constable was injured in an encounter with some suspects on I.J. Principal Road.

A police patrolling team had spotted a car cordoned off by six gunmen.

The police said the gunmen opened fire when two members of the police team approached them.

The police also opened retaliatory fire and a constable got injured in the exchange. The gunmen took his weapon and bullets and managed to escape.

The injured constable was taken to the hospital where he is under observation.
