KARACHI: Bilal Shah starred with an entraining knock of 76as Brighto SAICA defeated Shameel Associates by 43 runs in the opening fixture of the 31st Aga khan Gymkhana Ramazan T20 Cricket tournament at the AKG Ground here on Friday.

Man-of-the-match Bilal slammed eight sixes and four fours during his 39-ball effort that helped his team post 172-. Raees Butt scored 44 off 28 with four fours and two sixes, while Mohammad Naved contributed 21 off 15 wits one four and one six.

Off-spinner Asif Nawaz grabbed 3-34 with Mohammad Wasim and Akhtar Kiyani taking two wickets each.

Shameel Associates, in reply, managed 138 all out in 19.4 overs with Mohammad Sajjad making 56 off 37 balls with the aid of four fours and three sixes.

Slow left armer Mohammad Ali Yousuf captured three wickets for only 22 runs and captain Sabir Hussain took 2-28.

Earlier, AKG chairman Mukhi Sultan Ali Kheemani inaugurated the competition in a colourful ceremony. Also present were AKG senior member finance Al- Amin Turyani cricket convener Mir Afzal Baig, Manager AKG Altaf Asrani, Hamid Ali Khan, Irfan Surani, Syed Imran Ali and Mohammad Nizam.
