KARACHI: A Chinese diplomat was briefed on Wednesday by police officials about the recent killing of a Chinese national in Clifton and an attack on a Chinese caravan in Sukkur and security to the foreigners working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The consul general of China visited an office of the police’s Counter-Terrorism Department, where the additional inspector general of the CTD, Dr Sanaullah Abbasi, and other officials briefed him.

Chen Zhu, 45, working for a local shipping firm in a senior position, was gunned down on Feb 6 near Zamzama Park in Clifton.

Another Chinese man with the victim at the time of the attack remained unhurt while a passer-by was injured in the incident.

Dr Abbasi told Dawn that they informed the diplomat that “substantive progress” had been made in the case to identify the killers and their possible motive.
