ISLAMABAD: A man was killed after being hit by a police vehicle on Tuesday while a fruit merchant was killed during a robbery.

Sayab Hussain, a native of Abbottabad, was hit by a police vehicle on the Expressway near Kuri. The car was under the use of an officer of the newly-constituted Counter Terrorism Force.

Sayab sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead in a hospital. The victim’s body was handed over to his brother, who told the police he will take the decision of initiating legal proceedings against the driver after the burial.

The car was taken out in order to drop an inspector of the Counter Terrorism Force home though it is not clear if the inspector was in the car at the time of the accident.

Separately, Ahmed Bukhsh, a fruit merchant, was killed near the capital’s fruit and vegetable market during an armed robbery.

Natives of Bhakkar, Ahmed and his brother-in-law traded in oranges and they had come to the market to collect Rs650,000 in payment owed to them.

Three armed men intercepted them near Service Road I-11/4 and held them at gun point, demanding that the cash be handed over to them. Ahmed was shot three times when he offered resistance.

The victim’s brother-in-law, Haji Shah Mohammad said the robbers seemed to be in their 20s.
