LAHORE: A man impersonating an official authorised to hire staff for various government departments was arrested from the General Hospital canteen on Monday.

Jarar Haider of Sharaqpur Sharif had invited candidates for the posts of paramedical and security staff, sanitary workers and drivers to LGH for an interview along with Rs300,000 each. Haider started “interviewing” the applicants at the canteen, which raised suspicion among some of them who asked Haider to show appointment letters before receiving the payment.

On realising that he could not convince the candidates, Haider attempted to flee from the spot but was caught by the candidates who handed him over to police.

Fake appointment letters of LGH, Muridke and Shahdara hospitals and some other government departments were seized from his possession. He allegedly attempted to pressurise police by displaying identity card of a media house, which also proved fake.

A police official said so far nine people had lodged complaints against Haider.
