MUZAFFARABAD: A tourist family from Lahore met a tragedy on Friday after a boulder fell on their car, leaving two children dead and the remaining five members critically injured, police said.

The accident occurred near Nauseri, some 41km northeast of Muzaffarabad, at about 1pm when a couple and their four children and a nephew were travelling to Neelum Valley amid heavy downpour, according to Pajngran police SHO Raja Munsif.

Mr Munsif said the boulder smashed the roof of the car, and killed 11-year old Irtaza and seven-year-old Adeeb, children of Aamir Naseer, a resident of Samanabad Lahore.

Mr Aamir, his wife Rabia, nine-year old daughter Anusha, three-year old son Muneeb and 15-year old nephew Sifaat Tariq were seriously injured and shifted to a health facility in Muzaffarabad, the SHO added.

According to Dr Noman Manzoor, deputy medical superintendent of Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan Hospital Muzaffarabad, all injured had sustained multiple fractures and head injuries.

In an almost similar incident on Thursday, an Islamabad-based tourist Rizwan Ali died on the spot while his spouse, Ghazal Ara, was injured when a boulder fell on their car near Chaangan village of Neelum Valley. However, their infant child had remained unhurt.
