Published January 8, 2002

KOHAT, Jan 7: A meeting of the Awami National Party, presided over by its provincial president, Begum Nasim Wali Khan, nominated Haji Salamat Orakzai as the new district president of the party by replacing Pir Ghalib Shah who held the position for  the last ten years, an announcement by the ANP local organization said here on Monday.

The  participants unanimously appointed Haji Salamat  as district president and Masood Khan as secretary general for one year.

Haji Salamat in his statement pledged that he would reorganize the party at the grassroots level and would make it more active for the upcoming elections.

The party sources said a committee was investigating the allegations  levelled  by the  party  workers  about misappropriations of the funds by the former office-bearers. They said a stern disciplinary action would be taken against those found guilty.
