ISLAMABAD: A man was caught supplying drugs to students of a university on Saturday, police said.

The suspect had been supplying drugs to students of the university from Bari Imam for the last couple of years, the police claimed. He had also been arrested in 2015 for the same crime.

Secretariat Police Station House Officer (SHO) Shabbir Tanoli told Dawn that vigilance had been mounted on the alleged peddler which led to his arrest. Two kg charas was also seized from him.

“He used to buy three to five kg narcotics on Saturdays or Sundays and sold them to addict students from Monday to Friday,” the SHO added.

He said the peddler and his accomplices roamed in and around the university and sold narcotic-filled cigarettes for Rs200 to Rs300.

Meanwhile, a woman allegedly involved in drug peddling for the last 15 years was also arrested along with one kg heroin, police said.

The woman and her husband were drug peddlers and were operating from Golra.

The police said on a tip-off the woman was spotted on Railway Road in Golra selling narcotics. The Golra police arrested her and seized 1.08kg heroin from her.

During preliminarily investigation, it transpired that the woman and her husband had been selling drugs for over a year and 15 cases were registered against them.

The husband of the woman was in jail after being convicted of drug peddling, said the police.
