KARACHI: A judicial magistrate remanded on Friday a man in police custody in a case pertaining to the murder of his wife in the name of ‘honour’.

Mohammad Farooq has been booked for allegedly killing his wife Asma and causing injuries to her alleged friend Pervez in a Saeedabad locality.

The investigating officer produced the suspect before a judicial magistrate (West) and submitted that he was arrested on Thursday for allegedly stabbing his wife to death and also making an attempt on the life of her alleged friend on the suspicion of having an affair.

The IO further contended that a crime weapon was recovered from the possession of the suspect and sought his two-week remand for questioning and to record the statement of the injured.

The magistrate handed him over to police on five-day physical remand and directed the IO to produce the suspect along with a progress report at the next hearing.

A case was registered against the suspect under Sections 302 (punishment for premeditated murder), 324 (attempt to commit murder) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased’s brother at the Saeedabad police station.
