Nankana becomes district

LAHORE, May 9: The Punjab government has decided to give district status to the Nankana Sahib tehsil of Sheikhupura district. The decision was taken in a meeting of MPs belonging to Sheikhupura district and chaired by Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.

The CM said the step would help remove backwardness of the area and create new job opportunities for the area’s people.

Railway minister Shamim Haider, Senator Naeem Chathha and district Nazim Tawakklullah Virk were also present.
