KOHAT: Shakeel Khan, a brother of PTI MPA from Karak Gul Sahib Khan Khattak, was handed over to the cantonment police on remand on Saturday. He was arrested along with his friend in a woman’s harassment case on Friday.

The accused was arrested on the complaint of a woman from Karak and presently living in Khattak Colony, Kohat, who accused him of climbing into her house along with an accomplice Sajid and trying to assault her. An FIR has been registered against them on the woman’s complaint.

The PRO of district police officer said that Shakeel Khan was handed over to the cantonment police on remand for attacking the police last year and absconding since then.

He stated that he had attacked the police three times in the jurisdictions of KDA and cantonment police stations. Last year, he escaped after allegedly snatching a motorbike from a bargain centre.

The official said that Shakeel remained at large and had never obtained bail before arrest in any case.

ARRESTED: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested the killer of a young man who was shot dead here a few days ago.

Ustarzai police SHO Abbas Ali told mediapersons that some days ago one Baqir Ali was killed and an FIR was lodged against unknown killers. A team led by Arshad Mehmood carried out investigations and arrested Syed Hamid Hussain, a close friend of the victim, and recovered a 30-bore pistol from his possession.

Mr Ali said that during interrogation the accused told police that his friend had entered his house when his female relatives were present which enraged him and he shot him dead.

The police lodged an FIR against him and have secured his remand from a court.
