KARACHI: Two-day trials to select the Pakistan under-18 hockey team for the upcoming two-match series against the visiting World XI, commenced at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

The PHF selection committee, headed by Islahuddin Siddiqui, was in attendance. Other members of the committee include Ayaz Mahmood, Farhat Khan and Musaddiq Hussain.

Qasim Khan, another member of the selection committee, was not present

According to the chief selector, of the 42 probables, 39 are taking part in the trials as three players have left the camp.

To a question, he said the selectors after consulting jun­ior team officials, manager and head coach Qamar Ibrahim and coach Kamran Ashraf, will name an 18 or 19-member team after the trials end on Wednesday.

The World XI is due to play their first match at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Stadium on Friday and second at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore on Sunday.
