Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday challenged his political opponents to compete with the ruling PML-N government in successfully delivering development projects to the masses.

Addressing a political convention in Rahim Yar Khan district, he accused the PML-N's opponents of making false promises and statements to mislead the public.

The prime minister claimed that the current government had delivered on all its promises and completed hundreds of development projects.

"The PML-N's critics should focus on the general elections to be held in July this year," he said, adding that his government firmly believed in serving the masses by fulfilling its promises.

He also accused past governments of corruption and introducing a culture of abusive language.

Talking about the ouster of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, he said that the PML-N respects the Supreme Court (SC) but the nation disagreed with the decision against Sharif and "history will not accept the ouster".

Abbasi held the verdict against the former premier responsible for the unrest in the country. He said the verdict negatively affected the development process in the country.

The PML-N made difficult decisions like the one on the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in the interest of the public, he said.
