TIMERGARA: The Peshawar High Court, Mingora circuit bench Judge Qalandar Ali Khan on Saturday ordered release of 16 prisoners belonging to Lower Dir and Swat districts, for being involved in petty cases. The judge issued the orders during his visit to District Jail Timergara.

The high court judge inspected the barracks, including those housing women and juveniles, hygienic condition of kitchen, availability of medical staff and drinking water.

The justice listened to the complaints of women and juvenile inmates and directed the officials to resolve them. He appreciated the services of the staff of the jail hospital.

The judge said the government should construct separate jails in Swat and Upper Dir in order to decrease burden on Timergara jail. He also called for filling all the vacant posts in the jail without delay. The justice also issued directives to the district and session judges to arrange legal assistance for poor and helpless prisoners.
