PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has rejected the demand of PTI chief Imran Khan about early elections, saying his party wants the parliament to complete its constitutional tenure.

In a statement here on Monday, he said that QWP was a staunch supporter of democracy.

He said that strengthening democratic institutions would be instrumental in political stability and financial prosperity. He said that they wanted the present government to complete its term.

“This statement reflects Imran Khan’s political immaturity. PTI doesn’t have any plan except to disturb the system,” said Mr Sherpao.

He disagreed with the PTI chairman’s demand for fresh mandate by holding early general elections in the country and deplored that it was an unwise and a non-serious demand.

The QWP chief said that the incumbent government must complete its five-year term. He said that Imran Khan lost everything due to his hasty acts. He said that PTI chief should learn from his past mistake that resulted in serious difficulties for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the country besides slowing down the pace of progress.

Mr Sherpao said that PTI-led government in the province failed to deliver during the last four years despite its tall claims of change. He said that PTI got votes by making false commitments of bringing change in the province but its leaders failed to honour the commitments.

The QWP chief said that PTI could not bring any change in the lives of people.

He said that PTI chairman admitted incompetency and inability of his government in the province.

He said that provincial government had not paid attention to the problems of the people of the province.

Mr Sherpao said that his party wanted National and provincial assemblies to complete their term as continuation of democratic process would ensure provision of due share in national resources to all federating units.
