RAWALPINDI: A man allegedly killed his wife and father-in-law in Dhoke Chiragh Din on Saturday, in the Civil Lines police area.

The deceased were identified as Rabab Bibi, 30, and Mohammad Akram, 60. Police said the complainant in the case – Rabab Bibi’s brother – told the police that the suspect stormed into their home along with three of his sons from his first marriage.

He said the suspect carried a 30-bore pistol while the others carried knives. He shot Rabab Bibi and Akram, after which all four suspects escaped.

Rescue 1122 shifted the deceased to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examinations. A murder case has been registered against the four suspects, and an investigation is ongoing, police said. Police added that raiding teams had been formed by Superintendent of Police Syed Ali.

Mohammad Imran, the complainant, told police that his sister married the suspect 15 years ago, and the couple had four children. He said she had recently moved into her parents’ home, after her husband allegedly physically abused and badmouthed her.

Mr Imran said the suspect visited their home four days ago and tried to persuade Rabab Bibi, but she refused to live with him and preferred to stay at her parents’ home with her children, which angered the suspect.

He said the suspect returned to their house at 7:30am on Saturday with three of his sons, and shot and killed the victims.

When contacted, Civil Lines Station House Officer Mian Imran said a man murdered his wife and father-in-law when the former refused to give him custody of his children, who were living with their mother.

He said that the 57-year-old suspect was married to Rabab’s sister, who had died. After the death of his first wife, he married Rabab.

“He had four children with his first wife and four children with his second wife,” he said.

SHO Imran said a case had been registered against the four individuals while several police parties have been made to conduct raids to arrest the suspects.
