TAXILA: A speeding car killed a man on G.T. Road near Cadet College Chowk in the Hassanabdal Police area on Tuesday.

Police and hospital sources said that 55-year-old Maqbool Hussain Bangash, a native of Kohat disembarked from a passenger van at the chowk to catch public transport for Abbotabad.

As he was crossing the G.T. Road, a speeding car hit knocked him as a result he died on the spot.

Later he was shifted to THQ hospital and later his body was handed over to his family who took it to Kohat for burial.

The Hassanabdal police have registered a case against the car driver and started further investigation.

Separately, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming poisonous tablets over some domestic dispute in village Tarbethee limits of Bhattar police station of Attock on Tuesday.

Police sources said that the girl had had hot words with her family members over some domestic dispute and later consumed the poisonous tablets.

She was taken to a local hospital where she died.
