ISLAMABAD: The administration will be eradicating the pollen allergy causing paper mulberry trees from the federal capital by 2020, cadd Parliamentary Secretary Maiza Hameed told the National Assembly on Thursday.

In reply to a question by Sher Akbar Khan, she said pollen allergy in Islamabad is caused due to pollen from various trees, shrubs and seasonal flowers during spring but paper mulberry is considered the major contributor of allergy causing pollen.

The Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad will be gradually removing the trees from residential sectors.

The Capital Development Authority will be planting local and environment friendly trees in place of paper mulberry including amaltas, kachnar, celtis, chit pine, arlan, siris, bakain and jaman among others.
