QUETTA: Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has said that ensuring protection of life, property and honour is the responsibility of police and they have fulfilled these obligations with full devotion and rendered great sacrifices in the process.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of the Elite Force personnel at the Anti-Terrorist Force Training Centre on Friday, the chief minister praised the role of police in maintaining law and order in the province.

The Balochistan government has set up a special Elite Force of police comprising 1,000 personnel, including officers, of which 277 personnel completed their training and took part in the passing-out parade.

“The government... would take all possible measures to provide best training facilities and modern equipment to them to fight terrorists,” Nawab Zehri said.

He said that police were facing several challenges in peculiar conditions of Balochistan, like target killings, acts of terrorism and other crimes.

The chief minister said that he was happy to see that the police force had been properly trained and it was ready to face any challenge in the province.

He congratulated the inspector general of police and other officials for successful completion of training of the police force.

The chief minister annou­n­ced creation of 80 vacancies, installation of a tube-well and 20 per cent incre­ase in the allowance of the staff of the training centre.

Provincial ministers, MPAs, Inspector General of Balochistan Police Ahsan Mehboob, General Officer Commanding of 41 Div Major General Abid Aziz Khan, Additional IG Dr Mujeebur Rehman, DIG of Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema and other officers attended the ceremony.
