SUKKUR: More than 100 used uniforms, including caps and jackets, of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and Sindh police were found dumped in Tunia village near Baberloi police station of Khairpur on Friday.

According to the Baberloi police, the uniforms were packed in three gunny bags and thrown by unidentified suspects at the site, some five kilometres from Sukkur.

They said some residents of the village saw some people throwing the gunny bags near Tunia Pull and speeding away in a Datsun pick-up in the afternoon.

The villagers alerted the Baberloi SHO, Ghulam Hyder Rind, who along with a team of policemen proceeded to the spot and inspected the contents. The gunny bags were later taken to the police station and Rangers’ officers posted in the area were apprised of the episode.

Rangers’ officers and personnel went to the police station and took the stuff in their custody. They thoroughly checked the uniforms, caps, jackets, belts, and other articles and noted down their description and number.

SHO Rind told the media that the Rangers and police would soon initiate a joint inquiry into the matter while a hunt for the suspects, who disposed of the stuff, was started.

Sukkur SSP Masood Bangash said that the spot from where the stuff was recovered fell in the jurisdiction of the Khairpur police. As such, he added, further detail would be given to the media by Khairpur SSP Ghulam Azfar Mahesar.

However, SSP Mahesar could not be reached by phone despite many attempts made by this reporter.

It is pertinent to mention here that the site of the recovery is just three kilometres away from the Sukkur Central Jail-1.
