DERBY: India defeated Aust­ralia by 36 runs in the Women’s World Cup semi-final on Thursday.

Batting first, India scored 281 for the loss of four wickets in 42 overs, thanks to Harmanpreet Kaur’s 171.

The Indians then bowled Aust­ralia out for 245 runs in 40.1 overs.

Deepti Sharma led the Indian bowling attack with three wickets for 59 runs in 7.1 overs.

Australia’s Alex Blackwell tried to resist with 90 runs on 56 deliveries, but in vain.

India will face England in the final at Lord’s on Sunday.
