LAHORE: The construction of the new building of North Medical Ward of Mayo Hospital will start immediate after Eid holidays. It will be a state-of-the-art modern building at the site of the old building which was declared dilapidated and vacated from the patients in 2008. The total expenditure of the project is about Rs150 million.

Tajamul Foundation would bear all expenses. In this connection, a prayer ceremony was held at Mayo Hospital at the site of the building on Saturday where Specialised Healthcare, Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah and acting Vice Chancellor of the KEMU Prof Qazi Saeed, Chairperson of the Tajamul Foundation Begum Laila Nusrat and her husband Mian Nusrat were present.

Mr Shah said that serving the ailing humanity was a great service and the foundation had set a golden example for others in Ramazan.

The building consists of 80 beds and a lecture theatre for medical students.
