LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has decided to cancel memberships of lawyers involved in May 20 attack during representative convention hosted by the bar to press for their demand for the prime minister’s immediate resignation in the wake of Panama Papers case verdict.

Lawyers affiliated with PML-N Lawyers Forum and federal and provincial law officers had allegedly barged into the convention hall, ransacked the place and occupied the stage. They also locked up Supreme Court Bar Association president Rasheed A Rizvi and secretary Aftab Ahmad Bajwa in the bar library. SCBA was the co-host of the convention.

LHCBA secretary Amir Saeed Rawn, talking to the media in the bar here on Tuesday, said footage of close circuit (CCTV) cameras had been retrieved and process for identification of the saboteurs was underway. He said the perpetrators would be dealt with strictly as they disgraced the bar.

The convention had given a seven-day ultimatum to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down and appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) holding inquiry into Panamagate.
