BAHAWALPUR: Four dialysis machines are lying dysfunctional at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) in Khairpur Tamewali.

This was noticed by Deputy Commissioner Rana Saleem Afzal during his surprise visit to the hospital.

According to an official handout issued here on Thursday, the DC directed that all the dysfunctional dialysis machines should be made functional without any delay to provide treatment facilities to patients.

Chief executive officer (health) Dr Saeed Asghar however claimed that dialysis machines installed about two years ago were already functioning and providing treatment facilities to patients.

SPECIAL COUNTERS: The Bahawalpur Arts Council has set up special counters at over 100 educational institutions in three district headquarters for manual as well as online registration of intending persons under the Punjab chief minister’s talent programme for the promotion of performing art, visual arts and music.

The female aged between 18 and 35 years will also be registered with immediate effect.

This was stated by BAC resident director Rana Ajaz Mahmood while briefing a meeting of the programme’s divisional committee here on Thursday with Commissioner Saqib Zafar in the chair.

The RE said that students of over 100 colleges in the division were expected to participate in auditions for the competition of musicians to be held at the district level at BAC from March 3 to 9.

He said the divisional music competition would be held on March11 and the art competition on April 14.

The winners would be given away cash prizes, he said.

SEALED: A joint team of the food authority and health sealed a private fast food outlet Lataska in Satellite Town here on Thursday.

The raiding team also fined Rs30,000 and Rs20,000 to Cino Bar and Almaida, respectively, for unhygienic and substandard food and unsatisfactory arrangements.
