GROWING terrorism has weakened Pakistan’s ability to maintain peace and stability. The terrorists have been striving to ruin the socio-economic status of the country.

The current situation has also questioned the efficiency of our law-enforcement agencies. The failure shows that measures taken were not adequate enough to deter the terrorists. The government should ensure strict implementation of the National Action Plan.

TERRORISM is a problem for every nation in the world. Pakistan is one of the worst sufferers. Many of its cities have been attacked by blood-thirsty terrorists.

The recent Lahore carnage is one of a series of violent acts of terrifying the public. These terrorist acts have many objectives such as spreading threat of violence in society and damaging the country’s economic progress.

There might have been security lapses despite efforts to protect the people. We must make our security more active and stronger and watch every moment of suspicion.

We need to stand united as a nation and support military and security personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the security of the nation.

THE recent spate of attacks across the country within a span of one week speaks of the dismal law and order situation.

The attack in Sehwan in particular shows the failure of the PPP to provide Sindh with adequate security. In the aftermath, it was the army that was once again called in to help with the rescue services.

It is not wrong to seek the army’s help, but it begs the question — are civilian departments functional?

The province’s rulers claim good governance but let us note the helplessness displayed by the Sindh Police and the district administration, the lack of adequate infrastructure and security provisions in Sindh, and the fact that taxpayers fund these departments which have nothing to show despite their budgets.
