MANSEHRA: The police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a man and seized over 150kgs of explosive material from his jeep in Oghi.

“We have seized over 150kgs of explosive material being transported through Thakot-Oghi road and arrested a suspected person, a resident of Shangla district,” DPS Shimraz Khan told media persons in Oghi.

He said that following a tip-off a police party, led by Oghi SHO Amir Khan, searched a jeep and found explosive material packed in bags to mislead or give an impression that flour was being transported.

A bomb disposal squad was called from Mansehra to verify the quality of the seized material, which confirmed that it was an explosive material.

A man who was driving the jeep was also arrested. He was identified as Ajab Khan of Shangla district and shifted to a police station in Oghi.

“We have started investigation to ascertain the purpose of transporting the explosive material and more information would be shared with media on completion of the investigation,” the official said.
