LAHORE: Six suspected terrorists were killed in a shootout with police in Khanewal district, claimed the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) late on Wednesday.

A spokesman said a CTD team from Multan raided a hideout of militants belonging to the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar in Chak No 98/10 R to arrest suspects.

When police laid siege to the hideout and asked those inside to surrender themselves, they opened fire and hurled explosive material at the raiding party.

The spokesman said police retaliated in self-defence. When the firing stopped, six militants were found dead. Four others managed to flee.
