A man on Monday tried to set himself alight with gasoline beside the Holy Kaaba inside the Grand Mosque, police in Saudi Arabia said.
However, the man was arrested before he could act on it, the police added. The man was in his 40s, it was confirmed.
"His actions suggest that he is mentally unwell," the mosque's police service said in a statement.
Though it did not elaborate, the police said it would take measures to address the incident.
A video clip circulating on social media shows a man being hustled away from the Kaaba by pilgrims and security guards. Reuters was not able to verify the footage.

We will never know the complete story as it's Saudi Arabia. Where laws are very harsh. They are saying that he is mentally ill. Well first of all bringing petrol inside the mosque is very difficult as all the gates are guarded by special forces. They don't even allow water. They check everything. So this guy is not mentally ill but smart. Six months ago a suicide bomber was caught also he was wearing ahram.

How could that person take gasoline inside the grand mosque. The security do not allow people to take inside any such thing as water bottles and search hand bags on the enterance gates.
