LAHORE: Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq on Friday indirectly advised Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq to leave captaincy for a man who can lead the team in all three formats.
Talking to reporters at a local function in the wake of the national team’s disastrous tours of Australia and New Zealand, Inzamam said Misbah was in the “best position” to decide his future.
“I haven’t given any advice to the PCB over the captaincy issue but I think the perfect man for the job is one who can lead in all three formats,” the former batting great said.
“Misbah is a very intelligent man and he is in the best position to take a decision about his future.”
Misbah’s advancing years have seen a lot of criticism heaped on him.
However, apart for the tours of New Zealand and Australia — where Pakistan were whitewashed 2-0 and 3-0 in Tests respectively — the 42-year-old has been Pakistan’s shining star since being appointed captain six years ago.
He inspired Pakistan to the top of the ICC Test team rankings for the first time in history last year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) — following a common practice in the cricketing world — has appointed different captains for all three formats of the game.
Pakistan didn’t fare any better in the ODI series Down Under, losing 4-1.
“We took several steps before sending the team to New Zealand and Australia and sent the best bunch of players,” Inzamam said, defending his selection.
“Fitness remains a problem for the team and we’re taking steps to improve it.”
Inzamam added that while he was independent as a chief selector, he does consult the team management before picking players.
The chief selector also defended sending all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez prior to the start of the ODI series against the Aussies.
“He was the best player of the national one-day tournament,” Inzamam said, adding they needed to make big changes to rraise a formidable team in all three formats.
He was also looking forward to the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which runs from February 9 to March 5.
“It will give us the opportunity to check out the best players and select a good team for the tour of the West Indies,” he added.

Inzimam sahib, please get new boys and even if cant do better then Hafeez, Shoaib, Younes, Misbah, Azhar, Azhar Mahmood and Akmals its fine. We are always loosing beside a few wins against Zimbabwe. Get specialist of each department and work on their fielding skills.
Just think of Afghanistan, one day even they could be a threat to your side. At least be honest to nation and give us good team. You may get good help from Rashid Latif

I would suggest the time to pick and come up with Sarfaraz as a captain in all form of cricket. He is one who can play all of three formats an also have capable to do best and innovate to make new shape of Pakistan Cricket.
You are the most powerful selector in recent past all the selection committees and only you can do it to get Sarfaraz in a new ara captain of Pakistan

a very unique and impractial advice. no other professional team is under such policy. three formats of game demand different sets of skills, thus it is very difficult to impart good captaincy decisions in all three formats of the game.

Mr. Inzi Sir. You were selected in hopes that finally you will select a more complete and balanced side. batting would be given priority since that is the weakest specially in the final overs. What we have seen is still unbalanced side and weakest batting order in cricket!! things have not improved. Please Pakistan Cricket Fans are losing all hope in the way cricket run in Pakistan!! Nothing has changed.

Cricket has moved on and we are still stuck in the 90's. At least learn from other successful teams and try to move past the current ranking in all formats. It is not just the fielding that is a worry.
We must do better in away conditions.

Replace Najam n Sharyar with one strong , independent n honest chairman like Air Marshal Retd Nur khan.
Selection to be made on open merit basis from the entire country.
Heavy investment needed on players training mental n physical. Also good attractive compensation should be considered.
Our pitches should be of international standards.
Selectors,coaches should work honestly and impartially together.

This is not polical party and no more political appoint, this is cricket and sport all appointment from old players, Najam, Sharyar, Shoban are politically appointees, similar coach Mickey Arther and his sub coaches are not result orientated, Pakitani players have poor english, less education and do not under stand coaches languages, local coaches MADE IN PAKISTAN, urdu speaking they understand Pakistan language, no more dual citizen, all coaches from Pakistan, they live here, earn, teach own language. no more Arther.

@SAK i agree sir on the set of recommendations. but past is another country. the fundamental and foremost issue is of fitness. it does not take rocket science to tell all the boys that you are a professional sportsman, your fitness should be of world standard.

In ODI Pakistan need a hard hitting batsman who can clear the boundaries with ease.
Currently after 5 down Pak has the following batsmen:
Rizwan - not tall and powerful enough to bat lower down for power hitting. Even Safraz is restricted in big power hitting. You need tall big build players in these position.
None of the Pak bowlers can power hit apart from Sohail and he is not paid in ODI or T 20. Apsolutely amazing. How worse can he bowl compare to Wahab, Rahat or Hasan. At least he can power hit.

Appoint indian coach...It will solve language issues with foreign coaches....It will give new technology knowledge as bcci spend a lot on technical advancement of players...It will solve fitness issues as indians players of current generation are very fit...It will solve batting issues as indian batting is historicaly very strong...It will solve fielding issue...It will solve rest all the issues...

Forget the limited over in test too you made some blunders in selection. It's started from Shan Masood. Why would you ignore the guys performing in domestic when you need exact replacements in test team. Like you needed opener, why did you not give a chance to Ahmad Shahazad or Fakhar Zaman? How can you select Asad Shafeeq, Rizwan, Hafeez, Azhar, Rahat and even Nawaz in an ODI team?

oDI team: Sharjeel, Kamran Akmal, Ahmad Shahzad/Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Sarfaraz, Shoiab Malik/Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Imad Wasim, Omer Saddiq, Saud Shakil, Hassan Ali, Aamir, Junaid, Saddaf Hussain.
I am sure there must be many more deserving who can play fast cricket.

It is evident from repeated failures that, quick shifting from one format of the game to another makes the whole plan counterproductive. We must have independent teams for each format of play and confine to the same.

This is the problem with our very big and famous cricketing names that they are completely unaware what actually the metrics to measure performances to meet critical success factor.
It is evident that Inzi does not read English newspaper but someone on top level Couch or Chairman need to look into such measurements.

When you compare and see the work style of Pakistani officials with other nations you find a contrasting difference in work ethics. Mr Inzamam is also looking for any easy way out by suggesting the older (corrupts) players instead of going around the country and finding new talent. It will take a lot of effort and time, for sure. All of the officials are suggesting hard and honest work for each other instead of starting it themselves. In the end they put all the blame on a foreign coach.

Those who are saying we need tall and strong batsmen forget that there is nobody tall in Indian cricket team and see what is India's ranking.
Somebody said Immad is mentally stable and has strong character !!
Does that mean others are mentally unstable and how do we know he has a strong character.

if you are making PSL solely as criteria for electing national team then it would be a disaster. Current tried and tested failures will perform well on UAE dead pitches and come back in team. Can't we look out of the box thinking and see things from larger perspective? Inzamam and all pcb officials please wake up and start living in real world.

We in Pakistan think that sports is above political revenge but please also suggest actions that would become absolutely necessary to protect the coach's family from Modi sarkar bashing back at home. What will happen if Azharuddin or Syed Kirmani is chosen as coach for team Pakistan, I am really terrified to imagine the fallout on the entire community.

drop azhar ali,asad shafiq,rahat,wahab,nawaz,hasan ali,rizwan & wahab from one day squad, in playing eleven either play with shoaib malik or Hafeez not both should play together. Give chance to sadaf hussain,harris sohail if fit, Fakhar Zaman, Fawad alam, Amir Yamin,Fahim Ashraf & Ahmed Shahzad.

Do you really expect any logical solution from " the great Inzi"? He might be one of the best batsman but as a captain, he never had any dept nor as a selector, he will accomplish anything better. Pakistan cricket need people who have true exposure and understanding of everything just besides bat and ball.
