SHANGLA: Speakers at a function paid tribute to local poet Dr Fateh Mand Khan on his first death anniversary here on Saturday.

Provincial minister for sports and culture Mehmood Khan was the chief guest, while PTI MPA Shaukat Yousafzai also spoke on the occasion. Late Fateh Mand was known as a poet, writer and social worker.

Speaking at the function, a local poet, Musa Yousafzai, spoke about the life and services of the late poet. He said that Fateh Mand would help the poor people of his area and being a doctor would treat them free of cost.

Addressing the participants, the minister said Fateh Mand would be remembered for his literary work which gave a positive message to the people.

He said that the late doctor served the people through his medical profession and literary work.

He asked the people of Shangla to always vote for honest candidates in elections.

He announced a playground for the local youth.

MPA Shaukat Yousafzai also praised the services of Fateh Mand.

He said that PML-N’s Shangla district nazim had got a stay order against the projects initiated by PTI.

He said that Rs1.5 billion had been allocated for development of the district.

He said that the ruling PML-N had not done anything for the development of Shangla during last 13 years and people were still facing the basic problems like shortage of water and health and education facilities.

Mohammad Zeb Khan, Waqar Ahmed, Miraj Khalid, Ziaul Haq, Akhter Chatan and Abdul Tawab also spoke on the occasion and paid tribute to the late doctor.
