BADIN: Several hundred people, many of them peasant women, gathered at the grave of Hari leader Fazil Rahu in Rahuki town near Golarchi (renamed as Shaheed Fazil Rahu after he was killed in 1987) to observe his 30th death anniversary on Tuesday.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sindh president Ismail Rahu speaking to them expressed his gratitude saying that it was out of love and affection that followers and admirers of the late leader came to Rahuki in such a large number to pay homage to him, although a formal anniversary programme was to be held on a later date.

He observed that Rahu lived and laid down his life for the cause of haris.

He said Rahu devoted his entire life for the rights and peasants and never bowed to exploiters.

He said Rahu even continued his struggle during military dictatorships and led the poor and downtrodden demanding restoration of democracy.

Rahu’s family members, along with his followers, laid wreaths and offered fateha on the grave of the late leader before attending a simple ceremony held at his residence to pay homage to him.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shaheed Fazil Rahu Yadgar Committee leader Salamat Rahu vowed to carry forward the mission of the late leader and continue the struggle for the rights of peasants.
