The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday decided to file a reference against the former finance adviser to Balochistan chief minister Mir Khalid Langove following the plea bargain in the mega corruption scandal.

“The reference would be filed within the next 15 days against Langove,” said Director General NAB Tariq Mehmood Malik.

He added that the total volume of corruption in the scandal was Rs2.24 billion, which would be returned by Raisani and Sohail Majeed following the plea bargain.

“The amount would be returned to the government of Balochistan,” added Malik.

He also said that more than 100 different bank accounts were used in the corruption scandal.

In response to a question, he said investigation was under way in over 100 corruption cases in Balochistan. He revealed that investigation against more than two provincial ministers with regards to irregularities and corruption was also underway.

Langove was arrested by NAB in connection with the mega corruption case registered against suspended provincial finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani.

They were accused of embezzling Rs1.5 billion local government funds for the financial year 2014-15. Three alleged facilitators — an executive engineer, a contractor and his brother — are already in NAB custody.

NAB had recovered Rs650 million from the residence of Raisani after arresting. The bureau recovered another Rs5.7m hidden in a bakery.
