PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has clarified a news item published on Nov 28 under the headline ‘Purposely-built vehicles rust at Pesco Offices’.

A statement issued here on Friday said that all the assistance provided by USAID, including vehicles, was efficiently being utilised by Pesco. As per details, USAID had supplied 90 three-wheelers 40 Suzuki pick-ups, 26 Suzuki vans, three Suzuki cars, two Toyata Vigo, four Isuzu buckets and three Toyota Hiace vehicles, the statement said.

Pesco claimed that all the vehicles were being properly utilised by field formations of Pesco, except eight three-wheelers out of which two were burnt by mob in Shabqadar for which an FIR had been lodged while six three-wheelers were under minor/major repair.

Fuel for for all Pesco vehicles, including the ones provided by USAID, was allocated on yearly basis. As far as drivers were concerned all the vehicles except three-wheelers had proper drivers as per rules. For three-wheelers, linemen who had valid driving licences were allowed to drive these vehicles for provision of services to the consumers, the statement said.
