ISLAMABAD: Security forces have apprehended a suspect wanted in a number of terrorism cases in different parts of the country, sources told Dawn on Thursday. They added that he was captured along with three other suspected militants.

The suspects were arrested during a raid in Rawalpindi, they said.

Sources described him as a militant affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan splinter group Ahrarul Hind who was previously a member of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

They said he received militancy training in Afghanistan in 2012, and was a well-educated individual.

The four apprehended suspects were allegedly involved in terrorist activities in various parts of the country, including Karachi, Sialkot and Islamabad, they said, and allegedly killed two police officials in Karachi.

Sources said they were in Rawalpindi to conduct terrorist activities.
